Tigers Edge Past Orioles, 1-0
|
The Detroit Tigers went home winners at Tiger Stadium 1980, thanks in large part to starter Matt Wiseman. Wiseman stifled the Baltimore Orioles, enabling Detroit to grab the 1-0 win. Detroit reliever Santo Alcala picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Jim M Hughes shouldered the loss. The 6th-place Tigers go to 37-42.
The Tigers procured the win, in large part because of center fielder Rusty Kuntz. In the bottom of the 17th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring triple.
"We did just enough to win," Wiseman said.
