Rangers Top Athletics, 5-0, Behind Valenzuela
|
The Texas Rangers went home winners at Oakland Coliseum 1969, thanks in large part to starter Fernando Valenzuela. Valenzuela stifled the Oakland Athletics, enabling Texas to grab the 5-0 win. The win makes Texas 36-41.
Oakland could barely put a dent in Valenzuela. The left-hander tossed 100 pitches over 8.2 innings for the Rangers, allowing only 3 hits.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Texas manager Zach Redpath. "It's usually not just one thing."
