Big Day for Hayes in 8-1 Brewers Win
|
1982 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Baltimore Orioles.
The Milwaukee Brewers downed the Baltimore Orioles, 8-1, at Memorial Stadium 1954. The Brewers were led by Von Hayes. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Tom Underwood, the winner, goes to 14-9. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts over 7 innings.
In the top of the second, with runners on 1st and 3rd, Hayes came to the plate. He hit a 2-run single off Danny Cox to put the Brewers in the lead, 2-0.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Hayes. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The win puts Milwaukee at 81-80 this season.
