Indians Lose to Yankees, 7-1
|
The New York (DL) Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians, 7-1, at Yankee Stadium 1938. The win was due in part to center fielder Larry Doby, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. With the win, New York (DL) raised its record to 67-65.
Doby had a key at-bat for New York (DL) early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 23rd home run of the season and gave New York (DL) an early 3-0 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Doby told the New York (DL) Times.
