Twins Get Past Boston for 4-3 Win
|
Fenway Park 1976 was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Gary Perritt. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Minnesota. The Twins won the game, 4-3. Perritt threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. Stephen Fuller, now 6-6, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings.
Minnesota used the timely hitting of George Foster to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Twins on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Foster. "And not try to do too much."
The win elevated the Twins to 50-39.
