Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Angels
|
New York got a terrific performance from pitcher Silvio Martinez, but it wasn't enough to beat the California Angels. California won the Angel Stadium 1979 contest, 4-3. Martinez came in in relief and pitched to 21 batters for the losing team. With the win, California upped its record to 54-33.
California won the game in the bottom of the 15th inning. With no outs and Camilo Aprgio on the mound for New York, first baseman Jason D Thompson hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Angels fans to their feet.
"We take it day by day here," said Thompson, "and today was a good one for us."
