Expos on to World Series
|
The World Series hopes remain strong for the Montreal Expos.
The team tonight eliminated the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 8-3 win, to capture the League Championship Series 3-1.
"We're rolling now," said Kirk Gibson, who was named series MVP. "The pitchers are pitching, hitters are hitting, look out. I expect us to pick our game up to another level in the World Series."
The standout offensive performance from Gibson included a .375 batting average, .444 on-base percentage, 3 home runs, 7 RBI and 5 runs scored.
The Montreal Expos don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Milwaukee Brewers - Seattle Mariners series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The World Series is scheduled to begin on October 13th, 1981.
