Montreal Tops New York 11-6, Claim 2-1 Series Lead
|
Riding the 4-hit performance of shortstop Garry Templeton, the Montreal Expos got a road win against the New York Yankees, 11-6, in Game 3 of the World Series today. Templeton went 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Expos, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
With no one out in the top of the fifth, Kirk Gibson barreled up a slider from Rick Honeycutt. The result was a 3-run home run, putting the Expos in front, 8-1.
"I like the roll we're on," said Montreal manager Rich Callaghan.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Yankee Stadium 1976 in New York. The scheduled starters for the game are Michael Steen for the Montreal Expos and Mike Parrott for the the New York Yankees.
