Orioles Prevail, 7-5, Over Seattle
|
Seattle got a terrific performance from designated hitter Chris Wynn, but it wasn't enough to beat the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore won the Memorial Stadium 1954 contest, 7-5. Wynn went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the losing team. Dave LaRoche earned his 5th save in 5 chances. The Orioles sport a record of 28-60.
With no one out in the bottom of the seventh, Mark Brouhard had a game-changing hit. The Orioles center fielder slammed a 2-run single off Tommy John, making the score 6-3, Baltimore.
"I know we have our doubters," said Seattle manager John Healy. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
