Red Sox Best Rangers in Pitching Duel
|
The Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Boston Red Sox eked out a 2-1 win versus the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park 1976. Nobody did more than pitcher Kenneth Kollmyer. He was terrific. Boston goes to 65-29. The win puts them 7½ games up in their division.
The Red Sox got a big at-bat from left fielder Devin Pike. For the game, Pike went 2 for 3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave Boston a 2-1 lead.
"That's baseball," said Texas manager Zach Redpath. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
