Brewers Edge Rangers, 3-2
|
The Milwaukee Brewers had to overcome a fine effort from Texas pitcher Jeff Byrd to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Milwaukee County Stadium 1976. Byrd went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. Carlos Martinez closed the door for Milwaukee, picking up his 3rd save of the year. The win gives Milwaukee a record of 6-4.
Alfredo Griffin drove in one run for Milwaukee. The speedster had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jeff Byrd. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
Griffin called the win "a collective effort."
