Mariners Stumble, Lose to Spiders
|
The Cleveland Spiders beat the Seattle Mariners, 9-4, at Cleveland Stadium 1980. The win was due in part to shortstop Alan Trammell, who was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. With the win, Cleveland upped its record to 49-49.
Early in the game, catcher Lance Parrish had a 3-run home run for Cleveland. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Spiders on top, 4-1.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Seattle manager John Healy. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
