Atayde Finds Groove in 5-1 Triumph
|
The Montreal Expos beat the San Francisco Giants, 5-1. Montreal pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Antonio Atayde led the way. The National League East Division-leading Expos have a record of 55-42.
It was an impressive turn from the legendarily hard-working Atayde, who tallied 4 strikeouts in 9 innings while allowing just 5 hits. Atayde, who is tied for 3rd in the NL with a 9 complete games, goes to 7-9 on the year with 101 strikeouts.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Atayde.
