Red Sox Score Late to Upend Twins, 4-2
|
The Red Sox grabbed a win, 4-2, at Metrodome 1983, overcoming a fine effort from Minnesota pitcher Steve Trout. Trout went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Boston pitcher Don Sutton got the win. He's now 5-0. Stephen Fuller was tagged with the loss. Luis Albo, credited with the save, is now 5 for 8 in save opportunities.
Boston used the clutch hitting of Jeff Burroughs to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We take it day by day here," said Burroughs, "and today was a good one for us."
The win elevated the Red Sox to 67-30.
