Tigers Win at New York, 7-1
|
The Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees, 7-1. Detroit pitcher and Chicago, Illinois, native Charlie Leibrandt led the way. Leibrandt, now 7-7, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 1, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. New York's current losing streak has reached 6 games.
With two out in the top of the fifth, Jose Hidalgo put Detroit in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Tigers went on to win the ballgame.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Hidalgo told the Detroit Herald.
