Orioles Clip Twins 3-2 in LCS Contest | The Baltimore Orioles topped the Minnesota Twins by the score of 3-2 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the League Championship Series today. The largest share of the credit went to player of the game and Baltimore starter Jim Palmer, who threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball in the win.
Had Ron Cey not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Cey hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Orioles.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Palmer told the Baltimore Citizen.
The next game is scheduled for Monday, October 9th, 1972. The scheduled starters for the game are Bert Blyleven for Minnesota and Pat Jarvis for Baltimore.
