Red Sox Down White Sox, 6-5
|
The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Comiskey Park 1969, knocking off the Chicago White Sox, 6-5. On the mound for Boston was left-hander Victor Rose, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner in relief was Bruce Sutter. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 8-2. The American League East Division-leading Red Sox have a record of 70-32.
Boston used the clutch hitting of Phil Ouellette to capture the win. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"It feels good to get this one," Ouellette told the Boston Today.
