Tanana Hurls Expos to 5-0 Shutout Win
|
The Philadelphia Phillies were almost helpless today in their 5-0 loss to the Montreal Expos and hurler Frank Tanana. Tanana kept the Phillies confused all game, spinning a 2-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Tanana," Philadelphia manager Arlo Zimmerman said in his postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 29-year-old left-hander had 4 walks and 1 strikeout in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Tanana said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
In 21 starts this season Tanana has registered a 7-9 record and a 3.42 ERA.
