Beattie Dominates Chicago
|
Jim Beattie kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Philadelphia Phillies were all smiles after winning 4-0 against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field 1979 today. The right-handed Beattie gave up no runs in his start, permitted 5 hits and had 10 strikeouts.
"If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Beattie said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be."
On his stats sheet this season Beattie shows a 3-2 record, 11 starts, 67.2 innings, 50 strikeouts and a 5.32 ERA.
