Big Day for Blankenship: Swats 5 Hits
|
Eddie Blankenship put on a hitting clinic today as the Bloomington HS Emperors dumped the Peoria HS Players 21-10 at El Paso HS Grounds.
The Bloomington HS right fielder made Peoria HS defenders earn their pay, lashing Peoria HS pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Blankenship said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Eddie Blankenship singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, walked in the 6th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Thus far in 1970 Blankenship is hitting .385 with 4 home runs, 31 RBIs, 43 runs scored and has compiled a .478 OBP.
