Mets Win at Pittsburgh, 5-2
|
Rick Burleson was a major factor in the 5-2 New York win over Pittsburgh. The Mets third baseman was 2-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. With the win, New York pushed its record to 55-53.
Burleson had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a 1-2 sinker from Mark Lemongello, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Mets a 3-1 lead. It was the 14th double of the year for Burleson.
Burleson called the win "a collective effort."
