Blue Jays Win 1-0 Walk-Off
|
Thomas Linnert never let the Red Sox get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his changeup, to pitch the Blue Jays to a win, 1-0. The winner in relief was Burt Nordstrom. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-3. With the win, Toronto pushed its record to 70-46.
Toronto won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With one out and Gary Pickert on the mound for Boston, pinch hitter Amos Otis hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Blue Jays fans to their feet.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Boston skipper Jeff Blim.
