The Cincinnati Reds topped the New York Mets, 4-2, in National League action at Riverfront Stadium 1970. The standout performance belonged to Cincinnati pitcher and Petare, Venezuela, native Tony Guzman. The win for the Reds lifted their record to 76-43.
The Reds grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With no one out, Darrell Evans hit a 2-run home run off Oscar Brito, putting Cincinnati in front, 4-0. For Evans, it was his 25th home run of the season.
