Green, Yankees Dispatch Kansas City, 3-1
|
In a tight game between the New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals, pitcher Blake Green was terrific on the mound. The New York right-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. With the win, the Yankees hiked their record to 63-56.
Green, who leaned on his slider, allowed 1 run on just 3 hits over 8.1 innings for the Yankees. For the most part, Kansas City hitters were simply overmatched.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Green. "Successful pitchers do it."
