Red Sox Deal Angels 6-1 Defeat
|
Spirited fans greeted the California Angels for their clash with the Boston Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Angel Stadium 1979, knocking off the California Angels, 6-1. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Tom M Carroll, who played a pivotal role in the win. Carroll picked up the win for Boston, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 11-8.
Boston used the bat of Jeff Burroughs to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Carroll told the Boston Today.
The first-place Red Sox, at 79-41, now lead their division by 5 games.
