|
Behind the hitting of George Hendrick, the Oakland Athletics stopped the Boston Red Sox, 8-2. Hendrick went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Athletics. Matthew Sutherland got the win, improving to 3-3. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 5. The triumph makes Oakland 32-93.
With Oakland leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Hendrick hit a 2-run single off Boston hurler Victor Rose. It was the 92nd hit of the season for Hendrick and put his team ahead, 5-2.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Hendrick told the Oakland Times. "It's as simple as that."
