Pirates Win at San Francisco, 5-1
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a win at Candlestick Park 1993, knocking off the San Francisco Giants, 5-1. Starting pitcher Rafael Santana was a big reason why. Santana got the win, improving to 7-9. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Santana allowed no runs. The Pirates sport a record of 52-76.
Pittsburgh relied on the bat of Dan Gladden to get the win. The left fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Pirates ahead, 3-0. For the game, Gladden had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Gladden said after the game.
