Texas Gets 11-8 Win
|
1982 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Baltimore Orioles.
The Baltimore Orioles got a superb performance from second baseman Ron Cey. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Texas. The Rangers won the game, 11-8. Cey was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Tim Leary earned the win to go to 12-8. He allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work.
It could have been a different outcome for Texas, had it not been for Steve Garvey, the two-time Gold Glove Award winner . Garvey contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put Texas up, 8-5.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Rangers manager Zach Redpath. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
The Rangers, at 53-76, have now won 5 straight.
