Astros Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Mets, 7-4
|
The 7-4 Houston win over New York was due largely to Julio Franco. The Astros shortstop went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Kevin Carr got the save, his 7th in 8 chances. Houston has a record of 60-72, placing them 4th in the National League West Division.
Franco had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Matt Adams, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Astros a 7-4 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Franco.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Franco said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
