Cubs Come Up Short at San Francisco, 2-1
|
The San Francisco Giants racked up a win at Candlestick Park 1993, bumping off the Chicago Cubs, 2-1. Dan Neumeier, who started for San Francisco, pitched effectively for his team. The winning pitcher was Neumeier, now 7-6. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. The 4th-place Giants have a record of 60-72.
San Francisco third baseman Tyler O'Dell contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a curveball into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 110th hit of the season and put the Giants ahead, 2-1.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Jeff Griggs.
