Brito Now 3-4 After Subduing Reds
|
The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 3-1, in National League action at Shea Stadium 1979. New York pitcher Oscar Brito had a standout performance. Matt Adams, credited with the save, is now 17 for 28 in save opportunities. The triumph puts New York at 67-67 for the season.
Brito ran roughshod over the Cincinnati lineup. The right-hander allowed just 3 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 11. With the victory, he goes to 3-4 on the season.
"Oscar is still learning," said Mets manager Tim W. "The sky's the limit for him."
