Cardinals Win at San Francisco, 4-1
|
St. Louis and San Francisco duked it out and the Cardinals came out victorious.
St. Louis Cardinals starter Willie Hernandez was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the San Francisco Giants, 4-1. Hernandez got the win, improving to 10-11. He allowed 9 hits and walked 0 over 9 innings. Hernandez allowed 1 run.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jim Gantner? The St. Louis second baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Cardinals on top, 2-0. For the game, Gantner had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Gantner said.
The win for the Cardinals raised their record to 68-67.
