Talley Excels in 10-4 Cincinnati Win
|
No one was more impactful than Joseph Talley in the 10-4 Cincinnati win over Atlanta. Talley, who finished 5th in the AL in triples with 8 in 1974, went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. Ramon Beltran was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The win gives Cincinnati a record of 8-5.
With Cincinnati trailing 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Talley hit a 2-run single off Atlanta hurler Alan Knicely. It was the 11th hit of the season for Talley and put his team ahead, 3-2.
"It's good to win," Talley told the Cincinnati Citizen. "I like to have fun doing it."
