In 8.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Jay Dillard recorded the save, his 2nd.
Darrell Evans, who finished 2nd in the NL in on-base percentage with .408 in 1980, chipped in for Cincinnati with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the first baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
