Tigers Drop 2-1 Decision to Yankees
|
New York rode a good effort from starter Rick Honeycutt to beat the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium 1976. The final score was 2-1. Honeycutt, the winner, moves to 3-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. New York goes to 9-5.
New York took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, George Kaage hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Yankees.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Kaage told the New York Gazette.
