Giants Score Late, Upend Reds, 7-4
|
San Francisco starter Steven Miller pitched well against the Cincinnati Reds at Candlestick Park 1993. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-4. San Francisco reliever Dave Ford picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Doug Rau absorbed the loss. San Francisco now sits in 4th place in the National League West Division at 67-77.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Kevin Howard came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Cincinnati pitcher Jay Dillard, he hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Francisco on top, 5-4.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Miller.
