Ruthven Now 9-10 After Subduing Tigers
|
The Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers, 2-0. Boston pitcher and Sacramento, California, native Dick Ruthven led the way. Bruce Sutter earned his 21st save in 25 chances. Boston has an impressive 97-49 record.
Ruthven delivered a quality start for Boston. The 6' 3" right-hander allowed no earned runs on 1 hit over 8 innings of work.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Boston manager Jeff Blim said.
