Spiders Lose to Orioles, 5-3
|
Baltimore starter Kyle Monroe pitched well against the Cleveland Spiders at Memorial Stadium 1954. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Monroe, now 10-14, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Oscar Silva converted his 3rd save in 3 tries.
Dave Parker, who led the NL in extra base hits with 65 last year, aided the Baltimore cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Parker said.
The last-place Orioles have won 4 straight.
