Angels Nip Yankees, 7-6
California beat New York in a rain-soaked ballgame.

The California Angels beat the New York Yankees, 7-6, at Yankee Stadium 1976. John Milner, in particular, was impressive. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. John Butcher earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 6 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. Earning his 2nd save for California was Jerry Reed.

The game turned with no one out in the top of the fourth when Milner, who finished 5th in the NL in slugging percentage with .490 in 1973, hit a 3-run home run. It propelled the Angels into the lead, 6-3.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Milner.

New York drops to 11-7.
