89ers Blank Iowa, Corzel Winner
|
Before the game, Kennedy Corzel said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Sec Taylor Stadium, the 89ers pitcher whitewashed the Iowa Oaks 8-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Corzel said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my fastball even when I was behind in the count."
The Oklahoma City starter held Iowa scoreless, giving up 2 hits while registering 3 strikeouts and issuing 3 walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Oaks manager said in his postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
This year Corzel has compiled a 10-7 mark with a 4.44 ERA in 20 starts.
