Jay Smith of the Richmond Braves was cool and collected on the mound, leading his club to a shutout victory over the Buffalo Bisons, 16-0.

"He was mixing his pitches real well and keeping his composure on the mound," Richmond manager said later. "When Jay does that, good things happen."

The right-hander had no strikeouts, no walks and allowed 1 hit in the win.
