Giants Edge Expos, 5-4
|
The Montreal Expos got a sterling performance from shortstop Garry Templeton, but the San Francisco Giants still prevailed, 5-4. Templeton was 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 2 times. The loss drops the Expos to 10-9.
The Giants got a big at-bat from catcher Don Slaught. For the game, Slaught was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave San Francisco a 4-3 lead.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Slaught told a San Francisco Observer reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
