Shields Goes Distance in 5-1 Win
|
The New York Yankees went home winners at Yankee Stadium 1976, thanks in large part to starter Steve Shields. Shields stifled the Seattle Mariners, enabling New York to grab the 5-1 win. The win puts New York at 12-9.
Shields, who was born in Gadsden, Alabama, threw 124 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing 1 run.
"It was a good effort all around," said Shields.
