Cardinals Deal Reds 6-2 Defeat
|
Riverfront Stadium 1970 was the site for National League action featuring the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals.
St. Louis Cardinals starter Steve Carlton was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Cincinnati Reds, 6-2. Cincinnati falls to 12-8.
St. Louis used the bat of Bob Watson to get the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Carlton.
