Athletics Prevail, 5-3, Over Cleveland
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Spiders.
The Oakland Athletics defeated the Cleveland Spiders, 5-3. Doing his part was catcher Earl C Williams, who was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Dan Larson earned the win for Oakland. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 2-3. Dave Dravecky closed the door for Oakland, picking up his 1st save of the year.
In the top of the seventh, the Athletics grabbed the lead when Williams hit his 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Bill Laskey made it 5-3, Oakland.
Williams called the win "a team effort."
Oakland is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 4th win in 24 games.
