Leonard Stands Out in Pittsburgh Shutout
|
In an excellent mound performance, Dennis Leonard of the Pittsburgh Pirates whitewashed the Houston Astros 7-0 on a 4-hitter.
"I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches," he said after the game.
In all, the Pittsburgh hurler rang up 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in the shutout win.
"We just didn't swing the bats well today," said Astros manager Michael Rogner. "Leonard did a good job keeping us guessing."
To date this season Leonard sports a 1-3 mark with a 6.21 ERA in 5 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .299 batting average and has 18 strikeouts in 29 innings.
