Mariners Deal Yankees 6-4 Loss
|
Seattle Mariners starter Scott Sanderson was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the New York Yankees, 6-4. Seattle reliever Nick Bowditch picked up the win, raising his record to 1-3. Camilo Aprgio was tagged with the loss. The win brings the Mariners to 16-10, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Seattle used the timely hitting of Ryne Sandberg to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mariners on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Sandberg said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
