Padres Fall Short, 5-4, at Philadelphia
|
Getting offensive support from Paul Molitor, the Philadelphia Phillies topped the San Diego Padres, 5-4. Molitor was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Phillies. Larry McWilliams was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Lawrence Burgess collected save number 4.
Molitor contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Philadelphia get the win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Molitor told the Philadelphia News.
