Barons RF Ramie Gets the Cycle
It was a special day for Vernon Ramie at Rickwood Field -- the Birmingham Barons right fielder hit for the cycle, getting every type of hit possible.

The 24-year-old Ramie racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name in the history books. It was all for naught, however, as the Barons didn't win the ballgame, dropping the decision to the Mobile Bears, 10-9.

"He hit everything we threw," said Mobile manager . "There was just no getting him out today."

For the game, he was 4-for-4 with 5 runs batted in and 1 run scored.

"I'm glad for Vernon," Birmingham manager said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and a nice feather in his cap. Would've been better if we could have won the game for him, too."

Speaking to the press after the game, Ramie said the key for his record-setting day was "just getting some good pitches to hit."

Vernon Ramie hit a two-run home run off Ismael Sagastume in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run triple in the 6th and walked in the 8th.

Ramie is presently batting .185 with 6 home runs, 20 runs scored and 16 RBIs. His OBP is .329.
