Mets Bang Out 7-0 Win Versus San Diego
|
The New York Mets picked up a win at Shea Stadium 1979, taking down the San Diego Padres, 7-0. Starting pitcher Enrique Martinez was a big reason why. The Padres, now 10-20, continue their inauspicious start.
John Kruk, who is tied for 5th in the NL with a .333 batting average, contributed to the New York win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"I thought we were prepared," San Diego manager Chris Stephan said after the game. "I thought we'd be more competitive out there."
